THE STORY BEHIND THE ART
I met this mare at a dude ranch. Instead of riding with the other guests, I stayed behind, and this gave me the opportunity to have the ranch to myself. I stood under the trees with this beautiful mare. I admired the play of light and shadow on her face. We breathed together and I settled into the lovely togetherness that a horse can offer. In those moments of peace, I felt a true kinship with her, and though I never knew her name, in those precious moments I got to know her.
