Capriole in Hand
"…he did not feel the ground under his feet…
he thrust himself into the capriole, rose high in the air…
forelegs and hind legs horizontal.
He soared above the ground, his head high in jubilation.
Conquering!”
~ Felix Salton
About the Art
The Airs Above the Ground are a magnificent display of skill and power performed by the rare and beautiful Lipizzan horses. This dramatic leap is an ancient battle maneuver. I was drawn to the beauty of the vision of this leap when the horse performs “in hand”. This painting is part of a set of the three, including “Capriole’ in Hand”, and “Levade in Hand”
