THE STORY BEHIND THE ART
Jen’s horse Airy is a sweet Tennessee Walker mare. For Airy’s portrait, I visualized doves flying. Then the idea of dandelion seeds turning into doves came to me. I had a strong impulse to paint the background purple, though this color seemed an unusual choice for such a dark horse. I later found out that purple was exactly the right color. Animal communicator Lydia Hiby had previously told Jen that Airy communicated that her favorite color was purple. While creating the portrait, I didn’t know why I was inspired to paint doves, but I learned that doves are a feminine symbol of soul, wisdom, rebirth, and harmony. Airy later communicated that the dove also represents Jen.
