The inspiration for “The Quest” was created from images I received during a meditation asking for a vision to portray the Soul Essence of a horse named Easy Lovin' Okie, a.k.a.Okie - a 13 year old Appendix QH Gelding.
In my meditation with Okie - he led me through a wooded path into a beautiful clearing. My vision was drawn to his body, something was there - something important... something that was to be revealed that almost felt like a movie projector waiting to begin. There appeared a range of mountains - craggy, forbidding, snowy mountains... yet inside the mountain range I could also simultaneously perceive a hidden oasis - and suddenly the concept came to me -Shangri La. I began to realize that Okie was showing me his essence - that he is both the forbidding, seemingly insurmountable mountains, yet he is also capable of imparting and embodying the blissful peace of mind, body, and spirit that is Shangri La.

What I find particularly enticing about “The Quest” is the expression of infinity. The painting expresses 'The Quest', the attained moments, the unknown paths, all that has been found, all that is still to be found and all that what might never be found...and somehow it is not sad or unfortunate, but it provides infinite possibility and with that probably a realistic life experience. What I mean is...humans seem to seek in order to find. If we do we're happy, if we don't we are dissatisfied and continue seeking. However, I am starting to realize that life is more like a quest.
The way I understand a quest...we will never experience all, we will ultimately come to the unknown, we will have mountain-highs and valley-lows and are best off when we simply embrace it all as is. If we do there is always hope that more will get revealed...that part is infinite.
