"Sea Mystic" is a magical being that taught me a powerful lesson. When I created him in 1993, the painting was commissioned for a Lenox China Collector's Plate series. I showed the original painting at horse shows, but I was disappointed when a few people made comments that they thought he would look better as a horse. In my attempt to make the painting more popular, I removed his horn and called him "Esprit de la Mer". Still, for many years I couldn't find a buyer for the original. One day - a client was admiring the painting and I told her he used to be a unicorn - her face lit up and she said "I knew I was drawn to him, but I felt something was missing! Then she requested that I restore the magical horn to this magnificent being, and she purchased the original painting. From this I learned to never again question my inspirations or change my intent."
