This creation was one of my very first realistic paintings in pastel, created at the age of 21, inspired by a dramatic image of an Arabian stallion. I could feel his power, and I sought to portray his windswept, fiery nature in pastel. I named him Aslan, for my favorite childhood myth, of the lion Aslan in the chronicles of Narnia. His pride and his carriage, his wisdom and his strength, were the same to me.
