Here in my Heart

When I first met Lacey during a photo session for her portrait, I could see the love she and her owner, Adrienne shared. They had spent a lifetime together. They were so in tune, that they frequently mimicked each other's expressions and actions. I photographed them together as Lacey touched Adrienne's hand. Sadly, Lacey died only a few months later.
When I began the process of creating her portrait, I composed together the two images Adrienne had selected from my photos. Adrienne's hand seemed to represent both her loving, human touch, and the touch of an angel.
During the portrait's creation, Celine Dion's song "Here in my Heart" played on the radio. Tears came to my eyes as I realized this was the perfect title for Lacey's portrait.  Now Lacey shines in her portrait, a daily reminder to Adrienne of their closeness, rather than their distance.
