This painting depicts the famous Russian Arabian Stallion, *Moment, framed against the backdrop of the cathedral of St. Basil in Red Square. When viewed from many angles, one experiences the uncanny sensation of the horse's head moving to watch you wherever you are in the room.
Previously, I had been inspired to create a painting of a Russian Arabian against the cathedral, but my first attempt was damaged. Years later I serendipitously met a woman who suggested I paint the Russian Stallion, *Moment, and I realized that he was the horse I was fated to depict. When I looked at his photograph, I could hear Russian music. |
